The Artist is Absent: Davey Wreden and The Beginner's Guide

This video hits on a lot of the same things we talked about on the Beginner's Guide podcast episode, in a really good condensed way.  It also does a better job than I have framing the games are art argument by asking if the author's intent matters (not what the intent was only that you, the audience, know there was intent).  I have a slide in one of my talks with an image from Google Deep Dream and ask would your opinion change of this as art if I told you a person made it instead of a computer.  If I give the talk again I'll probably adapt more from this video for that part.

Wow, that was a lot of rambling for ADD to follow.  I'm walking away from a single viewing with the understanding that story-telling is more of an art-form than I gave it credit for.  He makes a lot of good points, especially about how the narrator is not the author, and that the story the author is trying to tell may not always be the story that we obtain from it.
