Accounts, Profiles, and Getting Listed on the Directory Page

Hello!  This post is meant to explain how accounts and profiles work, and also how to include your information on the Directory Page.

To create an account, simply log in with a support OAuth service.  Currently supported services are Google, Facebook, and LinkedIN.  This will create an account on the site linked with that service.  Note that knoxvillegamedesign.org never sees your password from the service you log in with.

Once you've logged in, you should see a new menu bar at the top of the site.  On the top left is a menu with the option "Edit My profile" - this is where you can customize your profile.

Edit My Profile

There are several options on the profile page, so please take a moment to read over them all.

At a minimum please fill out name and email - accounts without a name and email may be deleted to keep the forums clear of potential spam accounts.  You do not have to make your name or email public on the site to meet this requirement, just set it in the profile fields so an admin can verify the account information or contact you should there be a question.

To be listed on the Directory Page, check the "Show In Directory" option on your profile page.

The Knoxville Game Design group is here to help game development in the Knoxville TN area.  There are no strict membership guidelines and even if you've never made a meetup but live in the area and are interested in game design you are welcome to make and account here and add yourself to the directory.  Our focus is local but we are open to everyone no matter where you live and anyone is welcome to use the forums.  If you do not live in the area, we ask that you use your best judgement if you should include your profile in the Directory - a post in the Looking, Offering, Buying, and Selling may be a better fit.

If you have any questions please post below or send an email to michael.neel@knoxgamedesign.org
